Adelaide vs. Hawthorn
Friday, September 12 – Adelaide Oval
Jimmy’s Prediction: Adelaide by 8
After 9 wins in a row, Adelaide dropped the most important game of their year – but I think it’s a good thing.
They’ve becoming growingly complacent in the last month, only just beating West Coast and North. It happens to every team when they’re on a roll, and then they bounce back harder. Usually. Sometimes they just keep sliding out of form.
Plus, now that they have to play another game, Rankine will now be eligible to play in the Granny if they make it that far. And honestly, he is one of the few players in the league with the talent to break out in a quarter or change a games result in the dying minutes.
The Hawks had a good win to progress to the Semis, by seeking shelter during a late surge tsunami, and maturely fighting back with 3 unanswered goals in the last 10 minutes to seal it.
Hawthorn have a had pretty decent hit-outs lately to prepare for such high stakes tough competitors, playing Adelaide, Brissy and Collingwood in August alone – but only winning 1/2.
Hawks will have a crack, but I think this is more Adelaide’s year, and the Crows have more talent head to head over the entire ground.
Adelaide by bugger all.

Brisbane vs. Gold Coast
Saturday, September 13 – Gabba
Jimmy’s Prediction: Gold Coast by 3
The biggest QClash in history, should be a belter. The Suns pulled off a miracle in a thriller over in Perth last week, as the Dockers pressed them late. Dimmas genius move to push Mac Andrew forward prevailed again.
This is honestly the best situation the Suns could have asked for, as they are notoriously ordinary outside of home. However, Brisbane is just an hour down the road, and they absolutely pumped the older Lion brother only 7 weeks ago in the state.
Brisbane might be in a bit of strife here. Despite having one of the most dynamic midfields in the comp – they barely landed a punch against the Cats, and now they’re missing Neale and Hipwood.
Brisbanes last 7 games have been against teams ranked 2-10, and they’ve won 4 of these, so they’re still ahead of the bellcurve for tough games, and they haven’t lost two games in a row since June.
Definitely worth flying to Queensland this week, and although I think Brisbane have the talent to win if everything’s working smoothly – I think there is something special cooking in Gold Coast.
Suns in a belter.
