Geelong vs. Brisbane
Saturday, September 27 – MCG
Jimmy’s Prediction: Geelong by 20
After arguably the most boring finals series of all time, we’ve come down to the most predictable Grand Finalists – and god I hope it’s close.
The Cats have been absolute textbook this finals series, and for the last 10 weeks to be fair. Hawthorn never looked a chance against them last week, and although Tom Stewart is a massive blow – he is importance is not as dire for Brisbane, than it would’ve been for the likes of Adelaide.
The Lions have barely strung three wins in a row all year, so I’m not having much optimism. They’ve got some serious talent across the field, which they showed against Collingwood last week in a physical and emotional hit out – but in my eyes, Brisbane never looked in doubt.
Neale is a bigger loss for Brisbane than Stewart for Geelong, and if makes the comeback he desperately wants could very easily go pear shaped and see Brisbane with a solider down off the bat.
Although Geelong gave them an absolute pantsing a few weeks – it was only a few months ago the Lions came down to Geelong and showed them why they are the big cats in the league and won by 41 points.
Still, Geelong are just so well structured and disciplined on all cylinders, that everything will have to be going right for Brisbane to win.
Geelong, in hopefully a tight one, but I think comfortably.
