Knights vs Dragons

Friday, June 19 – McDonald Jones Stadium

Both sides had the bye last week, so there’s no fresh Round 15 form to pretend into a grand tactical revelation. The Knights get this at home, and that alone gives them a decent enough lean against a Dragons side that still feels hard to trust away from home.

The Dragons have had little moments lately where they’ve looked like a functioning football side, which is cute, but Newcastle at McDonald Jones is a different ask. The Knights should have more control through the middle and enough strike to punish the Dragons if they start coughing up cheap field position.

This shouldn’t need to be complicated, which is always dangerous, because rugby league loves making simple things stupid.

Wests Tigers vs Dolphins

Saturday, June 20 – Campbelltown Sports Stadium

The Tigers are still a hard team to read, mostly because they can look dangerous for 15 minutes and then spend the next 20 playing like the concept of defence was explained to them in another language.

The Dolphins have had to work through Origin disruption, but they still look the cleaner side overall. Their attack has more reliable shape, and they’ve got enough edge strike to make Wests pay if the Tigers start drifting in and out of the contest again.

Campbelltown makes this awkward, and Wests will absolutely drag it into chaos if they can. But the Dolphins look slightly more trustworthy late, which is not a phrase anyone should throw around lightly.

Titans vs Panthers

Saturday, June 20 – Cbus Super Stadium

The Titans have shown a bit more life lately, and they’ll fancy this more at home than they would if it was another trip into the Penrith meat grinder. But feeling better about yourself and actually beating Penrith are two very different hobbies.

The Panthers had the bye last week after publicly dismembering the Tigers the round before, so they come in fresh and still carrying that usual Penrith stink of control, patience and making everyone else feel rushed. Very boring. Very effective. Very annoying.

Gold Coast have enough speed to jag points, but Penrith should win the middle, squeeze the life out of the game, and pull away once the Titans start chasing.

Bulldogs vs Sea Eagles

Saturday, June 20 – Accor Stadium

Both teams had the bye last week, which makes this one more about the trend than the immediate form. The Bulldogs are never a soft kill at Accor, and they’ve been good enough this year to make most games a proper grind.

Manly still get the lean, but only just. Their best football has more strike, and if they can get clean ball to the edges, they should be able to find enough points. The issue is that Manly rarely do anything without giving their fans mild chest pain first.

The Dogs will make it tight, probably ugly, and definitely annoying. But Manly’s attack looks slightly more likely to crack it open.

Warriors vs Cowboys

Sunday, June 21 – One New Zealand Stadium

The Warriors losing to Cronulla was brutal, because that was a proper arm wrestle decided by one freakish late play rather than the Wahs being rolled. It was annoying, dramatic and exactly the sort of game that makes everyone pretend they enjoy “fine margins” when really they just want their team to stop ruining their weekend.

The Cowboys had the bye, but their last few weeks haven’t exactly screamed “trust us on the road.” Going to New Zealand against a Warriors side that should be filthy about letting last week slip is not ideal preparation.

The Wahs should respond here. They’re better organised, better at home, and still look like one of the cleaner sides in the comp when they don’t get dragged into late-game nonsense.

Storm vs Raiders

Sunday, June 21 – AAMI Park

Canberra’s attack has become a weekly hostage situation. They had chances against Parramatta, but again looked blunt, predictable and weirdly allergic to actually finishing their work. That sort of form does not travel well to AAMI Park.

Melbourne had the bye, which is usually bad news for whoever gets them next. The Storm have had their strange patches this season, but at home, fresh, against a Raiders side struggling to find points, they look the safer side.

Canberra can defend well enough to keep this from turning into a complete mess, but unless they suddenly remember how to attack, Melbourne should grind them down.

Roosters vs Sharks

Sunday, June 21 – Allianz Stadium

Cronulla are rolling, and that win over the Warriors was a massive one. They didn’t just nick it; they found a way to survive a proper scrap and steal it late. That sort of win can build belief quickly, which is deeply inconvenient for everyone else.

But this is also a tough follow-up. The Sharks had to empty the tank in New Zealand, and now they head to Allianz against a Roosters side that should have enough class and polish to make this uncomfortable. Cronulla also have a bit of injury noise around the pack, which doesn’t help when backing up from a war.

This is the best game of the round. The Sharks are absolutely live, but the Roosters at home get the smallest lean.
