A few answers for the people wondering how these ridiculous things work, and why we keep trying to turn chaos into seven figures.
What bookies pay you out $1 million?
Ladbrokes, Neds and Sportsbet are the main ones people usually know for the $1 million style multi payout promos.
Have you ever won a $1 million multi?
No. The closest we’ve got so far is MDM #8, #11 and #12, which were all 3 legs off. MDM #8 was:
- Gold Coast SUNS line (-21.5) missed
- Zach Merrett anytime goal missed
- Western Bulldogs 40-59 winning margin missed
Which is both painfully close and not close at all. That is the beauty of multis, if your idea of beauty is psychological damage.
What are the odds on winning a million dollar multi?
Usually we’re building them around the 100,000 to 1 mark and putting $10 on them to get close to the million dollar payout zone.
So the odds are extremely long, which is a polite way of saying you probably shouldn’t start mentally spending the money after leg two.
Why are the MDMs usually full of weird legs?
Because you do not get to a million bucks by stacking six favourites and calling yourself a genius.
These multis usually need a mix of lines, player goals, disposals, totals and same game multi combos to get the odds high enough to matter.
What does MDM stand for?
Million Dollar Multi. Nice and subtle, obviously.
Are these meant to be realistic bets?
Not really. These are more for fun and the tiny delusional window where everything is somehow still alive halfway through the weekend.
