Carlton vs. Brisbane
Thursday, July 10 – Marvel Stadium
Jimmy’s Prediction: Brisbane by 47
I would normally be outraged for Carlton’s craphousery flogging up prime time – but them getting pumped is still hilarious.
After back to back 50+ point losses and only a mathematical chance to make final, the end of the season can’t come quick enough for the Blues. Curnow has kicked 0.7 in the past 3 games, Cripps has checked out and Voss is cashing in his super.
The Lions have made their form pounce at a good time, sitting dangerous at second place after a strong win against a resilient Port on the weekend.
It’s not even at the G, and the Lions have been playing their best footy in Melbourne of late.
Brisbane to smoke them.

Gold Coast vs. Collingwood
Friday, July 11 – People First Stadium
Jimmy’s Prediction: Collingwood by 12
Jimmy’s Tips:
I was hoping this would be the game someone would shut the Pies up – now I have doubts.
Whilst the Suns have looked pretty solid all year, especially at home – bar the final quarter last week, they nearly got done by Essendon. They are playing teams 1-3 over the next few weeks, so that kind of mediocrity they dished up on the weekend won’t prevail.
Collingwood are still sailing strong towards a possible second premiership in three years. They’ve had a pretty easy month, playing four teams ranked 12 and under – so pretty soon they’ll get complacent and be caught out. After Gold Coasts average performance, I think they’ll hang on another few weeks.
Collingwood, in a risky one.

Western Bulldogs vs. Adelaide
Saturday, July 12 – Marvel Stadium
Jimmy’s Prediction: Bulldogs by 6
Some serious disrespect giving to these teams with this time slot. But this will certainly be a midday show, with two of the most exciting teams this year.
The Dogs are on a path with 4 on the trot, and a surplus of stars who can be match winners on their day. Last week it was Naughton with a lazy 5, and even though Darcy seemed average – he bagged 4.
Adelaide are also a forward heavy excitement machine, with some serious artillery up front. No ones ever questioned Rankines ability, but he just joined the 4+ club (5 even) at the Crows this year including Thilthorpe, Keays, Rachele, Walker and Fogarty.
This game could go either way, but I think the Dogs are more composed when things are going against them, and the wheels fall more off for the Crows.
Dogs in game of the round.

GWS vs. Geelong
Saturday, July 12 – ENGIE Stadium
Jimmy’s Prediction: GWS by 9
Why teams play each other twice in two months is beyond me – but at least these two will have a good hit out.
The Cattery absolutely snd expectedly spanked Richmond last week back home at GMHBA. The biggest issue from their game was not feeding Jezza 8 goals, after he kicked 4.5.
In the easiest tipping round of the week last weekend – the Giants also binned the Eagles quite convincingly by a lazy 59. With last years Coleman medalist potentially in the team and this years Coleman Medal favourite – we could be in for a shootout.
Hard to tell for this one since they’ve both come off the bye, onto playing witches hats – but backing the Giants at home.
GWS, in a game that could be anything.

Richmond vs. Essendon
Saturday, July 12 – MCG
Jimmy’s Prediction: Essendon by 25
Snooze time at the G. To be fair, it might actually be a decent one if you like close 2s games.
The Dons looked very good against the Suns for 75% of the game last week. Merrett being back in his rightful spot in the guts and Caddy really blossoming into the next Cameron.
Not really much point beating on the Tiges at this point. It’s gone past being funny to just sad – which isn’t where Carlton is just yet. They’ll definitely consider this one of their few last chances to win a game for the end of the season and give it their all. However, overall I think the Dons have got them on paper and on the park – as there is no forwards to vs Essendon’s no backline – especially if the Dons get few more players back.
Dons, relatively comfortably.

Fremantle vs. Hawthorn
Saturday, July 12 – Optus Stadium
Jimmy’s Prediction: Fremantle by 5
Another cracker of a game after a sleepy week last week. The Heave Ho was the only top 9 team to lose last week, but pretty poetic that they are actually placed 9th and it was against 10th.
The Hallyuwood Hawks (not a typo, it’s better than Bollywood) are sitting outside the fourth and aren’t really worrying anyone as a serious Premiership threat anymore – even though they’ve bet Doggies and Adelaide in the last month. A win here would definitely get them back on the Hollywood title.
The Dockers were pretty good at Sydney last week, against a newly revived Swans outfit. With more strength st home, I’m backing them in. But it won’t come easy.
Freo in a late night special.

Melbourne vs. North Melbourne
Sunday, July 13 – MCG
Jimmy’s Prediction: Melbourne by 18
There’s a few tough games to tip this week, and this one is right up there.
The Dee’s definitely turned their season around, and had a good run notching up 4 wins in the guts of the season. The last few weeks they’ve lost gallantly to Gold Coast and Adelaide, both outside of Melbourne.
North on the other hand have looked pretty exciting at times, yet have had their back blown out in the last fortnight from Hawks and the Bulldogs.
North actually looked really good last week against the Doggies, with LDU gone early, Larkey on one foot and who knows what was happening to Xerri. Going by the rate they are still going to be a bit banged up, I’m backing the Dees.
Melbourne to only just beat the broken.

St Kilda vs. Sydney
Sunday, July 13 – Marvel Stadium
Jimmy’s Prediction: Sydney by 17
The Saints might do their best work under the dome – but their best work either lasts 17 minutes a game or involves a boring flood.
Albeit, the Saints had a decent enough effort against the Hawks last week – but there was never a real concern from Hawthorn who basically had a 20 point margin all game.
Sydney, being the only team to stand up to the top 9 bullies last week – are looking quite hot, but they’ve left this run home way too late. While they do have 5 very winnable games coming up – the teams above them are pretty much 4 games (including percentage) clear of them.
Still, Sydney seem to be having a crack and think the dream is still alive which is commendable and something I can definitely get around.
Sydney to keep this thing alive.

Port Adelaide vs. West Coast
Sunday, July 13 – Adelaide Oval
Jimmy’s Prediction: Port by 65
It’s been a few weeks since West Coast have had a decent crack at a game, so there is an argument to say they are due.
However, a better argument is that they are in shambles without their two big birds up forward (Waterman and Allen), and they won’t be competitive for the rest of the year.
Port are in the same spot as Sydney, and have just as likely chance of making finals (very slim). One good thing about the Power, is they love to beat the crap out of teams. If they still have dreams of September, they’ll send West Coast to the ER.
Port to smash them.
