Round 3 AFLW Tips 2025 | SGM Bets & Predictions!

Jimmy and The Machine give their expert footy tips this round in the 2025 AFLW Season.

Jimmy and The Machine are here to give you their predictions and same game multi tips for each game this round.

Richmond vs. Essendon

Friday, August 29 – TIO Stadium

Preview:
The Tigers head north at 0–2 and hoping the humidity do them a favour, because the scoreboard hasn’t yet.

The Tiges have mustered 59 points across two games and were handled by Sydney and the Dogs, so the heat won’t fix their forward entries by itself.

The Dons, on the other hand, opened with a 56-point demolition of GWS and then showed they can grind too, edging West Coast by a kick. The Bombers’ ball movement has looked cleaner than Richmond’s and they’ve got more avenues to goal right now.

Darwin’s dewy pill might slow the scoring, but it also rewards teams who surge in waves – and that’s been Essendon’s vibe so far. Mon Conti will keep the Tigers competitive around the ball, but she can’t do it alone for four quarters.

GWS vs. Adelaide

Saturday, August 30 – Henson Park

Preview:
The Giants are 0–2 and leaking, and the 56-point shellacking in Round 1 still stings. They tightened up a bit against Collingwood last week but never really looked like pinching it.

Adelaide had the weirdest start – an upset loss to St Kilda, then a clinical 38-point response against Geelong to restore order.

The Crows’ defensive shape is back, and their counter-punch looked far sharper in Round 2. GWS need more scoreboard pressure early or this flips into repeat viewing.

In the Emerald City favours the Giants, but Adelaide’s system travels. Crows by a few kicks, with the clamps on after halftime.

St Kilda vs. West Coast

Saturday, August 30 – RSEA Park

Preview:
Saints fans have already lived two seasons in two weeks. Giant-killers in Round 1, reality check in Round 2. Melbourne tore them up by 74, but there’s no shame in being dismantled by a humming Dees outfit.

West Coast have split theirs also, an impressive Round 1 win over Gold Coast and a gritty five-point loss to Essendon—so they’re not the easybeats.

At home, St Kilda’s pressure game should bounce back, and the Saints’ stoppage craft looks a touch better on balance. The Eagles’ defence has been plucky, but their ball use under heat can wobble. Expect a tug-of-war with both coaches playing keepings-off in the last.

Geelong vs. Sydney

Saturday, August 30 – GMHBA Stadium

Preview:
The Cats are 0–2 and still searching for a clean four-quarter patch, and now they host the comp’s early sizzle reel.

Sydney have belted two opponents by a combined 102 points and looked frighteningly balanced doing it. GMHBA can turn games into rolling mauls, but the Swans’ spread and polish through half-back should travel.

Geelong will scrap and make this ugly, because they kind of have to. The issue is Sydney’s scoring threats are coming from everywhere, so you can’t just tag one or two out of it. If the Cats can slow the first quarter, they’ll hang around. If not, look out.

Swans to pull away down the hill to the River End.

Port Adelaide vs. Gold Coast

Saturday, August 30 – Alberton Park

Preview:
Somebody’s season gets a defib here. Port are 0–2 with a pair of heavy defeats, including a 72-point thud at Arden Street that won’t have been fun review viewing. Gold Coast are also 0–2, and last week’s 82-point blast from Sydney was not subtle.

The difference is the Suns have shown a bit more offensive upside when they do get it forward, and Port’s turnover game is coughing up punishing scores.

Alberton gives the Power a sniff, especially if they can make this a stoppage slog. But on exposed form, the Suns feel marginally less broken.

Suns by a few, finally clicking for long enough to matter.

Western Bulldogs vs. Hawthorn

Saturday, August 30 – Mission Whitten Oval

Preview:
The Dogs have reset after a Round 1 mauling, banking a confidence-restorer against Richmond.

Hawthorn, meanwhile, are the early-season spoilers: win up North, then out-hustled Carlton to be 2–0.

The Hawks’ ground-level pressure has been elite through two weeks, and their late-game composure is a nice, grown-up touch.

The Dogs’ midfield mix is still finding the right gears against better opponents, and Whitten’s narrower confines can actually suit Hawthorn’s press.

If the Dogs can turn this into a marking game inside 50 they’re live; if it’s ground-ball chaos, advantage Hawks. Expect swings, a few momentum runs, and a nervy finish.

Hawthorn, just cooler when it counts.

Collingwood vs. Melbourne

Sunday, August 31 – Victoria Park

Preview:
The Pies steadied last week against GWS, but they’re stepping straight into the buzzsaw.

Melbourne are 2–0 with a 48-point minimum winning margin and look like they’ve already skipped to mid-season form.

Collingwood’s defence has held up reasonably well, yet the Dees’ method shifts angles so quickly it’s a lot of paper cuts. Vic Park will bring the noise and Collingwood will bring the pressure, no doubt. But the Dees’ front-half connection has been crisp, and their midfield depth is swamping teams.

If the Pies can drag this into a stoppage arm-wrestle, they might stand a chance – of minimising the blow. Dees by three kicks.

Fremantle vs. North Melbourne

Sunday, August 31 – Fremantle Community Bank Oval

Preview:
Freo were buzzing after Round 1, then were promptly sat back down by Brisbane’s 70-point statement.

North have been the opposite of dramatic: efficient, ruthless, and 2–0 by a combined 102 points. The Dockers at home are always sturdier, and they’ll make the Roos earn every metre. Still, North’s contest-to-outside balance has looked the competition’s tidiest so far.

Freo need to generate repeat forward-half stoppages to drag this into their kind of game. If North get their transition humming, it’s curtains.

Roos by three-ish goals, professionally.

Brisbane vs. Carlton

Sunday, August 31 – Brighton Homes Arena

Preview:
This is a vibes test for both 1–1 sides. Carlton started hot with a win over the Pies but ran into the Hawks’ squeeze last week, while Brisbane rebounded from that same Hawks sting by torching Fremantle.

The Lions looked much more like themselves, brutal at contest, quick to punish turnovers – and that’s a nasty combo at home.

Carlton’s defence has generally held shape, but they’ve had scoring droughts that invite trouble. If the Blues can control territory early, they’ll ask the questions –  if not, the Lions’ run-on goals can snowball.

Expect a spiky first half, then the home side’s legs to tell the story. Brisbane by a couple of kicks with a late clamp.
