Round 2 AFLW Tips 2025 | SGM Bets & Predictions!

Jimmy and The Machine give their expert footy tips this round in the 2025 AFLW Season.

Jimmy and The Machine are here to give you their predictions and same game multi tips for each game this round.

Collingwood vs. GWS

Saturday, August 23 – Victoria Park

Preview:

Collingwood were disappointing in Round 1, going down by four goals to Carlton and never really looking like it clicked. The Giants, on the other hand, were absolutely blown to pieces by Essendon, an 85-29 loss that made the opening weekend feel about 10 minutes too long.

This is the kind of game both sides will circle as a chance to get back on track, but Collingwood at home has a bit more steel about them. The Pies don’t need to be flashy, just functional, to take care of business here.

I’ll back Collingwood to win narrowly, mostly because GWS looked completely lost last week.

Melbourne vs. St Kilda

Saturday, August 23 – Casey Fields

Preview:
As expected, the Dees came out hard last week to make amends for just missing out last year, and flogged the Dogs by 48, partly thanks to the Bulldogs shocking lack of conversion.

The Saints also had a good win, beating the Crows by 22 at home and Patrikios and Tyanna Smith racking up big numbers around the ground.

Should be a close one, but backing the Dees to get it done.

Gold Coast vs. Sydney

Saturday, August 23 – People First Stadium

Preview:

The Suns were flat in their opener against West Coast, managing just 20 points and looking a step behind all night. Sydney, though, hit the ground flying with a solid win over Richmond and a spread of contributors across the board.

Gold Coast will be banking on home advantage to at least make Sydney sweat, but their midfield is going to have to work overtime to slow the Swans’ runners. Sydney’s balance looks far stronger, and their confidence will be sky high after Round 1.

Swans to make it two from two, and probably by a comfortable margin.

Fremantle vs. Brisbane

Saturday, August 23 – Fremantle Community Bank Oval

Preview:

The Dockers kicked their season off in style, travelling to Adelaide and coming home with a gritty 22-point win over Port. Their pressure and balance around the contest looked on point, and their key forwards made the most of limited looks. Brisbane, though, were caught cold at home, stunned by Hawthorn in a loss that will sting all week.

Fremantle at home is always a handful, and the confidence from knocking off Port will only grow. Brisbane have the talent to hit back quickly, but their defensive cracks were clear in Round 1, and the Dockers will know how to poke at them.

I’m giving Freo the nod here. They’ve started fast and should have too much momentum for a Lions side still adjusting.

Hawthorn vs. Carlton

Saturday, August 23 – Kinetic Stadium Preview:

The Hawks turned plenty of heads in Round 1, going to Brisbane and pinching a famous win on the road. They looked energetic, clean, and most importantly didn’t flinch when the Lions came charging late. Carlton, meanwhile, were professional and polished, putting Collingwood away in a game that never really left their control.

This feels like a genuine 50–50. Hawthorn’s belief will be sky high after upsetting a contender, but Carlton’s structure looks built to travel and they’ll back their experienced heads to get it done again.

Just leaning the Hawks. Winning up north is no small feat, and if they can bottle that confidence, they might ride it into another scalp.

Essendon vs. West Coast

Sunday, August 24 – Windy Hill

Preview:

Essendon were the story of Round 1, absolutely torching GWS and showing a scoring power that should make every team sit up and take notice. It was fast, ruthless, and exactly what fans have been hoping to see from the Bombers in this competition. West Coast, meanwhile, got the job done over the Suns, showing maturity and calmness in closing out the win.

The Eagles will try to turn this into a scrap and slow Essendon’s ball movement, but if the Bombers get any sort of run on again, it’s lights out. Essendon’s depth through the middle also looks a step above.

I’m tipping the Bombers to stay unbeaten. West Coast aren’t pushovers, but they’ll struggle to contain the pace for four quarters.

North Melbourne vs. Port Adelaide

Sunday, August 24 – Arden Street Oval

Preview:

North started the year with a clinical win over Geelong, moving the ball quickly and keeping the Cats on the back foot all afternoon. Their midfield group looks just as strong as last season and will again be the heartbeat of their game. Port Adelaide fought hard against Fremantle but couldn’t sustain the effort, falling away late to lose by 22.

The Roos at Arden Street are hard enough to beat as it is, and with confidence already flowing, they’ll want to lay down another marker early in the season. Port will need to be sharper in front of goal and find more contributors across the ground if they want to compete.

North should get this done. Their class through the midfield and pressure around the ball should be too much for Port to handle.

Richmond vs. Western Bulldogs

Sunday, August 24 – IKON Park

Preview:

Richmond didn’t disgrace themselves against Sydney, but they were still second best across most areas of the field. Their ball movement looked a touch hesitant, and they’ll need to tidy up if they want to post a win here. The Bulldogs were much worse, blown off the park by Melbourne and looking miles away from where they want to be.

This has the feel of a low-scoring scrap, with both teams desperate to avoid an 0–2 start. Richmond at least showed patches of fight in their loss, while the Dogs were barely in the contest after quarter time.

I’ll side with the Tigers, but only just. The Dogs need a big turnaround, and I’m not sure it happens this week.

Adelaide vs. Geelong

Sunday, August 24 – Thomas Farms Oval

Preview:

The Crows were brought back down to earth last week, losing to St Kilda in a shock result that will have rattled them. Their midfield couldn’t get on top, and the forward line looked shaky under pressure. Geelong, meanwhile, were comfortably handled by North, never really threatening after half time.

Adelaide at home are usually quick to right the ship, and this feels like the perfect opportunity. Geelong need to tidy up their transition game badly, because North cut them apart too easily and the Crows will be looking to do the same.

I’m tipping Adelaide to bounce back and win this one well. The Saints exposed them, but the Cats don’t look ready to do the same.
