Round 24 →
Macarthur FC vs Newcastle Jets
Thursday, April 2, 2026 – Campbelltown Sports Stadium
Preview:
Macarthur finally did something useful, knocking odd Auckland and letting everyone know they’re still alive. The Jets should buy them a beer to say thanks. That result gave them some breathing space on the ladder, especially after they only just snuck in the W against Sydney last week, at the 93rd minute.
Can see Macathur slowing this down at home, which might be enough to frustrate the Jets – but I think Newcastle will still break through late.

Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC
Thursday, April 2, 2026 – Suncorp Stadium
Preview:
Brisbane keep doing Brisbane things, and just let it slip late in the game against Wellington, with a goal from Eze putting the final nail in the coffin.
Sydney also got done in the last minute, 93rd to be precise, after almost keeping it equal against the top team. They’ve had a stiff run of late, and would love to see this as an opportunity to boost confidence.
Brisbane haven’t won a game since mid-January, and I hardly think this will be a turn around.

Adelaide United vs Auckland FC
Friday, April 3, 2026 – Coopers Stadium
Preview:
Adelaide are sitting nicely, and quietly, at fourth and it’s been a while since they dropped a game – back in early Feb against the Jets thanks to Taylor’s Patrick.
Auckland will be filthy about dropping one to Macarthur, and now are 4 points below the Jets, plus a lot of confidence lost.
Over in Adelaide, and while Auckland are down in the dumps – I can smell a bit of an upset here, with Adelaide sneaking one late.

Central Coast Mariners vs Perth Glory
Saturday, April 4, 2026 – Industree Group Stadium
Preview:
The Mariners are fighting for their spot in the top 6, and after last weeks blocking from Victory, they definitely cannot drop this game (or the next) – as their last two games are tough.
Perth are probably the least concerning team to ruin their weekend and finals chance, so I think they’ll live to have hope for another weekend.

Melbourne City vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Saturday, April 4, 2026 – AAMI Park
Preview:
City also need to pull their finger out if they want to make finals – and it is quite doable. The only team in the top 6 in their next four games is Adelaide, and they have an extra game up their sleeve in the Mariners.
Same as Perth, Western Sydney in Melbourne are hardly going to disrupt the status quo, especially after getting handled by Adelaide at home last week.

Melbourne Victory vs Wellington Phoenix
Sunday, April 5, 2026 – AAMI Park
Preview:
Victory are another team who haven’t felt the losing sting in a while – and very likely won’t this round either. They looked quite superior against the Mariners last week, who had been playing quite well, by winning or drawing everyone ahead of them in their last few games.
Wellington also need to get into gear if they want to make finals, which to be fair they have been lately. However, Victory is a different kettle of fish than Brisbane and Perth, so I think they’ll get caught out with false bravado.
